On 24 May, we conducted another interview that will be developed into a Living History Lesson. Our interviewee was Ms Krystyna Dragan, née Chomicka, a resident of Zamość, and the topic of our meeting was life in Zamość during World War II.
Ms Krystyna will celebrate her 100th birthday in two weeks. When the war broke out, she was already a teenager. She told us about her childhood and the realities of life in Zamość after the outbreak of the war. Among other things, we learned what an ordinary “wartime day” looked like in her life, what her favourite place in Zamość was, and which places were the most dangerous. Together with Ms Krystyna, we travelled back in our imagination to Ogrodowa, Lwowska, Styczniowa (where she lived), Młodzieżowa and Hrubieszowska streets, as well as the market square in Nowa Osada – today’s New Town Market Square.
Now we have some intensive work ahead of us preparing the video material, Ms Krystyna’s biography, and the printed materials based on our meeting. We will, of course, share the results of our work on HEureka’s social media and here on our website.
We would like to thank Ms Maria Antonina Wiatrzyk, née Dragan, Ms Krystyna’s daughter, for organising the meeting.
This Living History Lesson will be presented during our upcoming international training course implemented within the framework of our Erasmus+ accreditation. Using it as an example, participants will learn about the structure of the method and how it can be used in educational work.
